Monday Lifestyle: Renewing The Mind
I hope the new week finds you well. As you all know...I did spend the Sunday just relaxing and watching movies. The way the place was so gloomy and rainy, relaxing was the most automatic thing I could think of to do. After a while...I got into my happy place and simply flowed. I allowed myself to delve into the world of Tyler Perry. I honestly feel like I've learned all my life lessons from the Madea movies...lol. Self defense (hello hot grits!!), self love, and having faith that all will be well in your life if you just trust in the all good. I ended up watching "The Family That Preys" for probably the hundredth time ever in life...lol. Drama on top of drama...but it's nice if it's in the movies. In real life...I have evolved to like the peace and quiet. You need some element of stability in your life, and I'm learning to embrace those changes.
With respect to the new week, one of the things that I've started doing is focusing on renewing my mind, and simply reminding myself of who I am. There are some people who drift in life, become influenced by forces that they never even knew they were being influenced by, and then their lives just drift away and one day they wake up wondering who they are. With intentional living, that does not have to be the case. Over the past few months, I've started just allowing myself to live how I want to live, so I thought now would be a good time for me to talk through the concepts that I use, as a general refresher. Sometimes, myself included, we need to be reminded that there are things that we need to do.
1) Remember the Vision
In the past few months, I've created visual reminders of my purpose, via colorful cards and my vision board, and have actually started the process of acting as if, I have what I want. I want to consult (McKinsey and Co is my dream!!), and run my business (you can't build a legacy with a job only), and this is a dream I have had for three years. With each phase of life, we have to remember who we are. As much as people can ridicule the fact that the Lion King is the only movie that I know word for word, there are truths in the movie, and in all Disney movies for that matter, that if we take the time to extract, we will actually find the meaning of life. It pays to live a good life! I didn't say...boring life...I said..."GOOD LIFE!!". In The Lion King, there was a point in time where Simba forgot that he was King, and he had to be reminded that he wasn't fulfilling his potential. In our lives, we have to allow ourselves to remember our worth, and that certain things are only for a time. The point at which we start to emerge into our full potential can be painful, because you are leaving behind who you are...for who you are going to become! If it's your passion, nothing else will matter but the fulfillment. Allow yourself to live out of your higher full potential, and not your lesser self. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it!
2) Find A Way To Be Original: There's a point in life where you realize that you're as unique as everyone else. With your passion, as you progress, you'll realize that many persons have the same vision as you. It will be important for you to find out how to separate yourself from the crowd! Find a way to make yourself that persona that your future organization will feel is irreplacable! Standing out, will always work out to your advantage! With a vision, and an original way to present it to the world, you'll be able to make your positive mark on the Earth!!
3) Be Grateful and Confident: One of the lessons that I've learned in life, is to be grateful. Life is not a unique experience, and sometimes, I find that you can learn from those who have gone ahead of you. First of all, I no longer believe in perfection, but I do believe in excellence. The excellence that means that when you wake up to deliver something, you do your best. Even if you're posting an Instagram picture of what you had for breakfast, you make it look so appealing that you inspire someone to take care of themselves and eat right! There are prices to be paid for doing your best, but at the end of the day, when you feel assured that you can sleep with a clear conscience, that is all that will matter at the end of the day! Provide a service, live your best life, give thanks and watch the seeds that you have planted expand and grow!
In terms of life, I'm just here allowing it to unfold! Living a dream as many of us have learned along the way, is a bitter sweet journey. Not everything that glitters is gold, and the eyes can be easily deceived. What is important as an individual, is to have that inner peace. In a world, where people seem to not be able to accept that happiness is possible, it is always nice to find that few who have realized that you can create anything that you want in your life, and from that your true joy will come!!
I was listening to my daily Impact Quotes, and the one that stood out to me today, was "If you focus on the joy, it will burn out the pain!!" Believe in yourself! I believe in genuine happiness, not materialism (though she does love nice things)...it's always better when the inside of you is healthy. A healthy mind is an unstoppable force!! You'll face the world in a manner where nothing can break you, and you'll simply just flow!!!
Regardless of where you are in life: JUST BE HAPPY!!! Five years from now, many of the things that you were fretting about won't matter! There's always a world of opposition to what's happening...so choose the experiences that are going to be important to you!!
Enjoy the day!! On Wednesday...we'll talk Fashion and Beauty!!
